We do prefer a tactile approach… being able to hold and smell a new LP before dropping the pickup needle is a favourite pastime over here, however this is not always an option… So with no further ado…
We proudly present two new, and digital only, additions to our catalogue:
Brusd 022 ANY EXIT Swedish singer and guitarist Erica Bjuremark made a worldwide impact with her cover of Ted Lucas ”It’s So Easy”. She’s also one third of the trio Any Exit together with bass player Victor Mobäck and pianist Sebastian Bergström. This is their album debut. Poignant lyrics in combination with sparsely produced haunting tunes that could be described as soft spoken yet forceful. Here’s their debut album We Hunt, We Lie, We Hide and Then We Die. “And there, captivating becomes downright irresistible at once.” Jean Pierre Simmard, ROLLING STONE
Brusd 039 SOFIE LIVEBRANT Sofie Livebrant’s third album Lighthouse Stories will be released June 10th 2015. It is a collection of songs where Livebrant has set music to text fragments from Jeanette Winterson’s novel Lighthousekeeping. Livebrant calls herself a “songcatcher”- a person who finds songs in the words of others – she is well known as a composer of some of Swedish singer Sofia Karlsson’s most beloved Dan Andersson songs and for her setting of music to the words of poets Karin Boye and Emily Dickinson.
A selection of unreleased lo-fi-recordings from 1975-1988. Edited and mixed by Dan Backman and Göran Petersson and supplemented with overdubs 2012-2015. The title should be read as Dan Backman Retrospective 55 Volume 1: 1975-2015.
How does it sound?
Like a hallucination. With elements of kraut, psychedelia, freeform, jazz, progrock, swedish progg, noise, musique concrète, folk, raga, fusion and electronic art music.
BRUSD 038 – NEW DIGITAL RELEASE – OUT ON APRIL 29.
Over the past few weeks we have added two new albums to the catalogue.
Brus 035/Knaster 035 ANDREAS HOURDAKIS TRIO “In a Barn” CD & 180 G Vinyl
This music came about, or was at least recorded, during the hottest days in August last year in a borrowed barn north of Stockholm, converted into a studio for the occasion. Hence the title In A Barn. It’s the album debut of Andreas Hourdakis and his trio which also consists of bass player Martin Höper and drummer Ola Hultgren.
”One of the most distinctive guitar voices in European jazz”. Rob Mallows, London Jazz News
Knaster 037 MARITZA HORN “Take It Where You Find It” 180 G Vinyl
This is a collection of demo recordings made many years ago for a never finished album. The multitrack tapes are missing. A stereo cassette copy with rough mixes all that remains.
The ones we felt release-worthy have been baked, washed and hung up to dry for ”Take it Where You Find it”. We assure you, they’re worth it!
Second video from the album “Tinder Stick Neck”…
We’re happy to announce that two of our 2014 releases have been nominated for the Swedish indie Manifest Awards!
Daniel Karlsson Trio for best Jazz album for Fusion for Fish and The Tarantula Waltz for best Singer/Songwriter album for Tinder Stick Neck!
And speaking of Daniel Karlsson and the TRIO, we had a magnificent week of recording on Runmarö the very first week of 2015. A new album already in the can! More on this later…
